According to the Nashville Business Journal, MissionPoint Health Partners has saved St. Thomas Health $11.2 million in healthcare costs over four years.
St. Thomas Health took a risk in launching MissionPoint Health Partners in 2011. Now, MissionPoint is a subsidiary of St. Thomas Health’s parent company, Ascension, which is the largest nonprofit health system in the United States.
MissionPoint Health Partners, an accountable care organization, is designed to save money while increasing care for the population it manages. In 2015, MissionPoint Health Partners saved $750,000 for St. Thomas Health.
